    Description
    Highlights

Obesity is recognized as chronic, low-grade inflammation and increased oxidative stress.

Insulin resistance may occur due to chronic overfeeding and subsequent obesity.

Dietary polyphenols may correct obesity-related insulin resistance, dose dependently.

Dietary polyphenols decrease lipogenesis, increase lipolysis with the simultaneous stimulation of fatty acid oxidation.

Polyphenol intake can prevent high-fat diet-induced insulin resistance via cell surface G protein-coupled estrogen receptor.
